Netherlands censorship

Postby raywelland » Tue Nov 19, 2013 2:40 pm

I have a number of items to and from the Netherlands with Dutch censor markings and sealing strips, However, I have been unable to track down any publications about Dutch censorship in WW1. Does anybody know of relevant references, please?

Hello Ray
My usual sources are Wolter KK "Die Postzensur" band 1, published in Munich in 1965 (an early book on censorship worldwide).
But a much better bet is the Dutch journal "De Postzak" No.155 of March 1988. The whole issue (pp409-456) was a b/w illustrated article 'Nederlandse Postcensuur in de Eerste Wereldoorlog'.
If you do not have easy access to this journal it can be borrowed from the CCSG library.
Please do not ask me for a translation.

Hello Graham,
Thanks for the info.
I would like to borrow the copy of the Postzak article, please.
I will struggle with the Dutch.
Thanks,
Ray
