Bonjour

Can anyone help me to identify this handstamp ? Is it a bogus, a currency control mark ? Anything else ?
The letter was sent from WIEN on June 19th, 1940 to Bohême and Moravia

I have not yet seen something like your cover, but I am quite sure that
it is a forgery.

Why?

Firstly it's an inland cover. Vienna as well as Bohemia belonged to
Germany during the Third Reich. The cover is franked at 24Rpf., the 2nd
weight step inland rate.

Secondly, inland covers were generally not censored during WWI. The only
exception were mail of suspect persons, which was controlled by the
Gestapo. But this is unlikely in this case as the addressee is a
business. Also was this a secret censorship.

Thirdly, the type of stamp and tape is very primitive, easily made at
home. Usually censorship devices are more elaborate to avoid
contemporary forgery.
