A strange cover which has been in my collection for some years

Letter from Cuba to the U S A but sent to Jamaica for censorship letter dated 16 Dec 1941

Letter from a stamp dealer in Cuba (Cuba filatelica fundada en 1925)

Use of the Jamaican steel censor mark Postal Censor Jamaica Passed no 1 but changed to 38 by blue pencil

Envelope sealed with the red Jamaican pasted by censor label

As the status of the censor has changed to intelligence staff, do you feel this letter was sent to Jamaica for censorship due to the stamp dealers concept or I would be interested in any other theories

Hi,
That is a strange routing if it was an airmail cover. Going from Cuba to Jamaica to the US is the wrong way on FAM5. It might have been tossed in the wrong bag rather than the northbound FAM5. If it is surface mail, the ship may have gone from Cuba to Jamaica then the US which is unusual, but a circuitous route. Why don't you put a scan of it on the board.

The postage paid is 11 cents

For some time I thought the reason this censor was used because it was Christmas with extra mail and help had been required but since the change in status of the censor this seems less of a reason

I am afraid I have no way of scanning the item
