A place to discuss censored mail items from the Post World War II era, including the Korean War and Suez Crisis

Hi Fellow Collectors
I'm stuck with figuring out what the background of this oval postmark "... Censura Estera" might be, applied in January 1946. Does anyone know about this? Italian censorship? Or US censorship in Italy? Why still censorship after the end of the war?
best regards, Peter
